Picture this year...

It has been a great year running!  Megan and I became Half Fanatics.  I PR'd on a half and just had lots of fun running.  It is always fun to look at all of the pictures and relive all of the running fun that I had last year.  May next year have even more running fun.

In no particular order...

December..what running??

So I haven't fallen off of the face of the earth.  I've been around but obviously not blogging much.  December has been horrible for running.  I ran 11 miles this month (I know you all are jealous!)  I did get to the gym a few times so I am happy.  With all of the happenings of December I'm ok with the very low mileage.
Here are some pictures of what I have been up to in December.  Enjoy!

So I was a bit busy during December.  I always love December and experiencing all of the Christmas festivities around Northern VA and DC.  I also headed home to PA and got to hang out with some friends from High school that I haven't seen in twenty years (I also hung out with some friends that I get to see every year too)

Monday I start back to running.  Training for Rock n Roll USA begins on Monday.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday!

Tis the season..to be jolly...

Well Christmas is coming..and if you know me at all you know that I love the Christmas season!  I love the lights, the music and all of the Christmas outings!  To kick things off at Run Club we ran and then stood in line with a bunch of little people (and by little people I do not mean short adults..but really little people..kids) to see Santa Claus.
Yeah Santa is loving us!  It was light up night in Shirlington so we ran through town to see the lights and ended up at the UPS store to sit on Santa's lap.  Come on people, Santa has packages to mail so this way he can talk to kids and get his next day delivery in the mail at the same time!

Next up was the Holiday Music Sing Along at Wolftrap.

The Marine Corp Band played holiday music and then during the second half of the performance a bunch of kids came on stage and we had a great sing along!  I just love the holiday season!
As the music performance came to the end they played Silent Night.  People brought candles with them and lit the candles as they left during the song.  So pretty.

Next up we have the National Christmas Tree, Zoolights, The Botanical Gardens and wreath laying at Arlington Cemetery.

What a great time of year!  Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to me!

When I came home I was greeted with a lovely package in the mail.  I love mail!  Especially when it is mail that has something to do with running! :)  I purchased two new running bras!  Ah  two new color to my running bra collection too.

You would think that I would have a black sports bra, but I don't.  So now I do.  And lucky for me I had another package waiting for me at my door this evening too...

Yep a new Steelers tech shirt to run in.  This is my night for running packages!  And that black bra will go with this new awesome shirt!

There is just something about new running clothes that just puts an extra step in your run.

Gift ideas for the Runner in your life

Well Christmas is  coming up and some of you might be wondering what to get your running friends..well here are some ideas:

  • Socks...you can never go wrong with a nice pair of running socks.  I love socks!  I really like the Feetures and the Bulaga sock brand.  Someday I will try the injinji socks..not sure how I will like the toe socks.
Feetures Elite Merino+ Ultra Light No Show Tab Socks

  • Gloves!  Its getting cold out there!  Gloves are always great!  Don't worry about getting the latest and greatest..stretch gloves from Walmart or Target work great!  That way if I have to discard them during a race I will not feel guilty.

  • Reflective vests are great to make sure that cars see your favorite runner while they are out pounding the pavement and the days are shorter.

  • Nothing says Merry Christmas than your favorite Gu!

  • A nice basket of products to use on race day.  Some of the race day essentials could include: face wipes, band-aids, Motrin, granola bars, ponytail holders, flip flops..
POND’S® Original Fresh Wet Clean Towelettes
  • Itunes Gift Card - so those runners in your life have new tunes to run to!

  • A new hat or visor is always a great idea!

When in doubt you could also give the gift of a race entry..put the entry of a local race on a Visa prepaid card.  Who would not love a free race!?!

Hope everyone enjoys the shopping season!
