I have a problem...

I have a problem..I will admit it..I may need counselling.  I think I may be addicted to socks..especially running socks..but really I just realized this morning that I have a crap load of socks in general   I guess this is what you find out when you are on spring break and it is snowing and you decide to clean your room and go through some drawers to get rid of stuff.

How many drawers of socks do you have?  I have two..One large drawer is for my funky socks.  I will claim that I buy them for school...you know that the kids love it when I am wearing fun socks.  But really I just like some crazy socks.

I also have a smaller side table that holds a crap load of white socks..many purchased specifically for running.  I love running socks!  I have toe socks, feetures (love some of them), bulega, nike, adidas and every other sock under the sun.  The funny thing is that I am not loyal to one brand of sock (obviously with all of the different brands in my drawer.)  I have some Bulega's that are ok..I have one grey and pink pair that I love!  I also have some Feetures that are ok..the elite I can wear on short runs, but not on long runs..the grey pair of Feetures..love them in the winter!  I guess you could say I'm a sock whore...my love is not just for one pair/brand.

When I was sad because my green hairband did not come in the mail before the RnR USA what does Megan say to me to try and make me feel better..hey maybe you can find some nice running socks at the expo to take your mind off of the green headband.  :)  Yeah I may have a bit of a problem.  And it seems like my friends may know about my problem too.

I usually pick up a new pair of socks when I head to the local running store.  I mean really what is one more pair of socks thrown in with my running purchase, right??

Do you have anything in your drawers or closet that you think..why am I buying another one of these??  Or am I the only one?  Please tell me I'm not the only one with issues... :)

beautiful day for a run

Well I if my Resolution was to put off running for as long as possible I would be rockin' that resolution.  It is so hard to get on track with a running schedule once you take an entire month off.  And I know I shouldn't complain about the New Year Resolution people at the gym, but they do make it harder for me to head over to the gym.  I tried telling myself I would head to the gym around 7:30/8:00 at night to avoid the madhouse and actually get a machine, but by that time I was able to talk myself out of the gym.  This week will be better!

Look what came in the mail on Thursday!  Yep I'm trying out some toe socks!  I tried them around the house (not sure if I'm going to like them yet).  Next run I will try them out with my running shoes.  I found a great groupon deal  for the sock and I've always wanted to try them so what the heck, I bought the groupon and they just came in the mail.  I'm hoping that the socks will cut down on the lovely blister I get at the end of my one toe.  The only way I will tell that is to run some long runs in these socks.  And since I took a month off, I'm guessing a long run is not happening this week.  :)

This morning I did some cleaning around the house mixed in with some food channel watching.. and kept telling myself that I need to run today...I need to run today.  Finally I just sucked it up and went upstairs and put some running clothes on and headed out the door.  I am so glad I did!  It is a beautiful day out.  The sun is shining..no real breeze..

I tried out my new running socks that Santa brought me (which is the reason that I didn't try the toe socks yet)  You can't get a nicer day to run in January!  Headed out the door and realized that I need to run a bit more regularly.  I guess that is what a training plan is for!  Did a few miles and then took the dog for a walk.
And notice I ran with a hat..I never run with a hat.  But since it was so sunny and I haven't showered I figured that the neighbors would like me to look a little presentable.  Your welcome neighborhood!

Hope everyone had a great weekend with some running thrown in!

Good Job!

Headed out for a 4 mile run in the heat and humidity.  I did wait until 7:30 thinking it would cool down some, but really it was still hot.  The only thing that changed was that the sun wasn't on top of me so I did have the  shade of the buildings to run in.  I figured today was going to be "cooler" than tomorrow so I might as well run today.  Although tomorrow is Tuesday so I will still end up running in the heat at run club.

While I was running I notice an odd issue.  My feet were starting to burn.  And of course for most of my run all I could think of is how hot my feet were.  Then all I could think about is that those poor runners at Badwater were running in much hotter feeling feet than my feet.  I guess I need to try some thinner socks.  Hopefully that will help.  I do love my cushiony balega socks

So I guess I need to go back to my feeture elite socks.  How do those Badwater runners do it?  A few miles and I was ready to try barefoot running.  Then I thought about the rocks on the road and quickly changed my mind.  My feet do not like it rough.

While I was running I saw one of my neighbors running up the huge hill that I was running down.  I have seen him run before (or I may have seen him in his yard..not sure.)  Anyway, I was heading down the hill, hating my feet and he was running up the hill.  As he was pushing on up the hill he turns and says "good job!"  Little did he know he just made my run!  Its funny how some of the simplest things that people say really has an impact.  It just put a little skip in my step.  Most times I find that runners will either
A.  ignore me
B. give me the little head nod
C. the smile and keep running.

I don't ever normally get "good job" while I'm running.  Not sure if it was the look on my face.  I tend to look like I hate life during my runs.  Sometimes I actually hate life, other times I don't realize that I look like I hate life.  Or if he is always so nice to other runners.  Whatever the case, thanks for making my run!  I think I am going to start to tell other runners "Good Job!"

So to all of you runners, Good job!  Keep on running!
