working out 2x in one day?? Say it isn't so!!

Snow day on Tuesday!  Yeah my 3 day weekend got extended to a 4 day weekend!  I love snow days!  Especially when there is really no snow outside :)  We had some ice so they called the day!  Yeah!!  So what to do..well I could do what I did on Monday..lay on the couch and take naps all day long, I just fear if I keep doing that I will start to look like my couch.  I decided to go to the gym and run and bike and then head to running club later that night to run some more!  I know crazy!  Two workouts in one day!  Really who have I turned into???  Well I might have been trying to make up for the fact that I didn't move the day before and I really just wanted to lay around and sleep :)  All in all it was very good (other than the two annoying young wives talking on the bikes about how they can't cry in front of their husbands).  If I had a pencil I think I would have gouged my eyes out!  But luckily not many sharp objects are found near the bikes.  My legs are hurting a bit today so I guess a good workout was had yesterday.

I also woke up and found out I am a bic band winner!  Nothing beats winning things.  I won a bic band from Bobbie at Journey to Running.  If you haven't checked out Journey to Running I highly recommend. :)

Birthday Week has ended

So my birthday was last week..such a busy week.  I had Running Club on Tuesday..ran the longer distance bitching the entire time...Wed. morning my co-worker bullied me into take a 5:30 am spin class..note to self I don't like spin classes...Then Thursday was birthday day...blankets and books with 2nd grade at 8am.  Parents brought their kids to the library I gave them some hot cocoa and they found  a spot to read together..very cute...Then that night we had a dinner at school for becoming school of excellence...and Friday night was a piano bar outing with some friends and Sat..the parents came to visit.  I am so exhausted from my birthday week! lol  Here are some pics from the piano bar...

Tonight I tried to run 6 miles and only finished 3 on the treadmill.  Tomorrow is supposed to be super nice out so I figured I could knock out my 6 miles tomorrow outside rather than pushing through at the gym.

Love the Run You're With

So I ran a Valentine's race with Megan this morning.  It was supposed to get up to 50 today but with no sun and the felt cold this morning.  Once I got running and sweating it was fine though.  Right at the beginning was a huge hill which was no fun at all.  So I walked up most of it b/c the people around me were all walking and there was no going around them...and really who am I kidding...I HATE hills!  Got to see some of the Shirlington Running club handing out water at the half way point, so that was nice :)  Always fun when someone shouts out your name and says Go Pam Go! I did realize that I need to step up my half marathon training.  I have been way too lax.  So I am going to attack the running.  I want a good 10 mile run time for Cherry Blossom and I want a good 1/2 marathon time the after Cherry Blossom.  So this is it. :)

Beautiful day for a run

What a beautiful day in the neighborhood!  I did 1 mile in the gym (with a migraine, so that ended the running pretty quickly) and then later in the day another 3 miles outside.  I am so glad I had a migraine this morning, because that afternoon run in the sun was so nice.  I have forgotten what it feels like to have sun pour down on you while you run.  I was running in a light long sleeve running shirt and could have easily ran in a tee shirt.  The guy I kept passing on as we ran opposite on the loop had shorts and a tee on, and if he could run in that outfit I am sure I could have run in shorts and a tee too!  That's how nice it was!  Hard to believe that it is mid February and I am running without multiple layers on.  And I took Riley on the last mile around the loop.  Oh he loved it.  However I guess I wasn't running fast enough for him, because he kept pulling me around the loop. 

I hope this is a  good sign for my 9am Love the Run you're with 5k.  I think if my friend Megan and I run it next year, we need to find some nice pink or red tutu's to run it in :)

So I wimped out at running club on Tuesday...way too cold and windy.  So I just hung out waited for some of my friends to finish their run and enjoyed some beer in the warmth of bar.  Now that is a great running club night :) 

I forced myself to run at the gym yesterday.  I wanted to just stay on my couch at 8pm...but no, I went to the gym and ran 3 miles.  I am hoping to fit in a 5mile run today but it might not happen.  I am supposed to meet my friend Stacy at the gym for Zumba.  So if we Zumba, the 5 mile run might be pushed to Friday.  We had a snow day today so no work.  Which is rather funny b/c we have less than 1/2 inch of snow.  I guess the roads were a bit slick so they canceled school.  So I guess I could run before Zumba...but my knee was bothering me last night so I don't think I am going to push it.  But we will see.  Sunday I have a Valentine 5k to run.

Super Bowl Sunday Fun!

So I went to the gym bright and early this morning.  I guess people do not like to work out on Super Bowl Sunday because the gym was pretty quiet.  I attempted to run 5 miles..but it was a fail.  I ran 3 instead.  I just didn't have the will or the energy to run the 5.  I will try again tomorrow. :) I am sure the fact that I have been a slug this weekend and eating a bunch of crap didn't help my energy level this morning.  I am going to try and eat a bit better and see how the running goes.  I am also going to get to the gym at 5 am during the week  try to make it to the gym at 5 am a few mornings out of the week.  We will see how that goes.  I think I will attempt my first 5:30 am gym fun on Tuesday.  Then I can either do a quick cardio or some weights and then head over to run club that evening.  It doesn't make sense to try and go tomorrow morning b/c obviously it will be a late night tonight watching my Steelers.  I am hoping that if I try and do something in the morning and maybe something in the evening I will see some lbs lost on the good old scale.  And I am hoping that if I get it out of the way in the morning, if I don't feel like doing much after work I won't feel that guilty b/c I would have had some sort of workout in the morning.  We will see how this "plan" goes.  I am not too good at waking up at the a.c.o.d. (a$$ crack of dawn). 

I am off to get ready and then head to my Steelers bar by 12:00..yeah a long, long bar day.  But I can't let my boys down! :)

5 miles on Super bowl Sunday??

So I was a slug today...I admit it.  It was rainy and gray outside, so I stayed inside.  It seems like when I turn into a hermit for the day I am really really tired from all of the hard work of laying around and deciding what to watch on tv.  So I decided to either run my 5 miles at 8pm or Sunday at 8am...yeah Super Bowl Sunday won.  I just don't think I could muster up the energy to run 5 tonight.  I did clean today, so I wasn't a total waste.  And I am sure cleaning burns hundreds upon hundreds of calories lol.

Tomorrow I will be cheering on the Steelers after my run.  I have to get to the bar early (noonish) to secure the lucky table and we will be enjoying the lucky philly cheesesteak sandwich to ensure our win.  Since we are basically camping out at the bar I will get a lot of reading done and some DS games played.  It will be a long day for sure.  The things we do for our team.   Hopefully it will be a good game.

I'm still alive!

Yes I am still alive!  I am in week 3 of my 1/2 marathon training and I had a head cold this past weekend so I have done nothing this week, no running, no run club, nothing.  I did ok the two weeks prior to this one.  I did go to Zumba tonight.  I think I might have hurt my back with some of those hip moves.  I also think the mirror in the room must be a fun house mirror because there is no way I am as big as that mirror shows..that big or square. 


I don't think I am spongebob square pants.  However when I look in the mirror during Zumba my hips don't move or I don't have hips...maybe a bit of both of those problems actually.  So I am hoping that if I keep going I will suddenly find some hips. 

So I think I might end up at the gym tomorrow.  I will try to run a 5k then Saturday it is either 4 or 5 miles.  Grrr...
