Where have I been???

I know it has been awhile since I have last blogged.  That is because I have been so busy running...or at least thinking about running. I think I have hit a running funk.  I blame the winter.  Taking the winter off of running makes it harder to start back up.  I had this great plan for running.  I ran Rock n Roll USA half on St. Paddy's weekend and then two months later I would run Pittsburgh Half.  I would use Rock n Roll to get back to running.  Well turns out my training was not the best, but I will get to that later.  There really is a theme to my blog...called lack of following a training plan.  Well this time I really did not follow a training plan.  But again I am jumping ahead.

End of March brought rain and more snow.  Yes I said snow at the end of March in DC!  Ugh...I was starting to think that we would never see the end of the white stuff!  Then pretty quickly spring break happened.  I knew I wasn't going to run a bunch over spring break since I was heading to South America!  Becky moved to Colombia to teach last summer.  So I couldn't pass up the possibility of free room, see South America and see Becky!  Colombia was great!  I had such a fun time. I did take my running stuff and shoes, but we never ended up with time to run.  If it wasn't hot as hell, we were walking up mountains.  And really nobody wants to run up mountains!  We did do a lot of walking. That is sort of like running right?
 First night in Colombia!

We found a brewery to visit!

I got back home on April 19th.  I had one week of training left and then the next week was the Pittsburgh Half Marathon.  You can cram in weeks worth of running into one week right?  Yeah wrong.  I did some more running, but nothing like I should be running the week before a half.  My longest run before Pittsburgh was a little over 4 miles.  Yeah I was going in with hopes of a PR for Pittsburgh! lol  Why do I do this to myself??

Stay tuned to find out how I did at the Pittsburgh Half Marathon!

I have a problem...

I have a problem..I will admit it..I may need counselling.  I think I may be addicted to socks..especially running socks..but really I just realized this morning that I have a crap load of socks in general   I guess this is what you find out when you are on spring break and it is snowing and you decide to clean your room and go through some drawers to get rid of stuff.

How many drawers of socks do you have?  I have two..One large drawer is for my funky socks.  I will claim that I buy them for school...you know that the kids love it when I am wearing fun socks.  But really I just like some crazy socks.

I also have a smaller side table that holds a crap load of white socks..many purchased specifically for running.  I love running socks!  I have toe socks, feetures (love some of them), bulega, nike, adidas and every other sock under the sun.  The funny thing is that I am not loyal to one brand of sock (obviously with all of the different brands in my drawer.)  I have some Bulega's that are ok..I have one grey and pink pair that I love!  I also have some Feetures that are ok..the elite I can wear on short runs, but not on long runs..the grey pair of Feetures..love them in the winter!  I guess you could say I'm a sock whore...my love is not just for one pair/brand.

When I was sad because my green hairband did not come in the mail before the RnR USA what does Megan say to me to try and make me feel better..hey maybe you can find some nice running socks at the expo to take your mind off of the green headband.  :)  Yeah I may have a bit of a problem.  And it seems like my friends may know about my problem too.

I usually pick up a new pair of socks when I head to the local running store.  I mean really what is one more pair of socks thrown in with my running purchase, right??

Do you have anything in your drawers or closet that you think..why am I buying another one of these??  Or am I the only one?  Please tell me I'm not the only one with issues... :)

5 things Friday

1.  SPRING BREAK!!!!!

2.  New running capri's...can't wait to run in them.  There is just something about new workout clothes!

3.  I guess there was a fire ball in the sky and I missed it..
I guess I was partying it up too much on my first night of spring break..that's right I was watching How I Met Your Mother and missed the fireball that touched down on the Maryland/Delaware border..oh well..goodness gracious great balls of fire!

4.  I caved and purchased the download for my RnR USA pics..They so overcharge for their pictures.  I don't normally purchase marathonfoto pictures, but I didn't look like I was hating life too much in the pictures..so I caved.

Looking towards the finishline
Megan and I waiting to start the race

5.  Winter weather..we are supposed to get some snow on Monday.  I was hoping to play in my garden and try to clean up my backyard..why are we getting more cold weather?  It is supposed to start to warm up!

Aiming for some running tomorrow morning..  Hope everyone had a wonderful running weekend!

Spring Break

Last night I went to run club.  Gotta love it!  More people are starting to show up since the weather has been warmer.  Yesterday was probably the nicest run club weather wise in awhile.  It was a nice 5k run followed by a nicer happy hour.

I may be competing in an Urban race in DC next month.  My friend Becca sounds like she is interested so we will see.  I love scavenger hunts so really this is right up my alley.  I have never done an Urban race before so if nothing else I can chalk it up to a new experience.

I am now in the middle of doing laundry and then I am off to pack and then tomorrow I am leaving for PA to visit my mom and step dad.  Sad that it means it is towards the end of my spring break.  But on a good note less than 38 days left of school!!  Yeah!!!

Spring Break!

Spring Break has officially begun! So I leave you with some comics:

I will be heading to the gym in the morning and then my friend Kristi is visiting this weekend with her 3 girls.  Aunt Pam will be taking them to the Natural History Museum and Ikea.  What a great combo for the weekend.
