running included in my lazy three day weekend

This weekend I have done a bunch of nothing.  I should feel bad about laying on the couch as much as I have..but I don't.  I'm thinking of it as recharging my batteries. I did run on Saturday, Sunday and Monday!  Go me!  Did I run my long run this week, no, but I did run something which is better than nothing.

Yesterday I thought I was going to run the loop.  The plan was to run 6.  It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining.  It was in the fifties.  I did a few loops and then stopped to pick up Riley and head to the tennis courts to lock us in and run some more.  The tennis court is almost as boring as running the mile loop, but at least Riley gets to run after me if he wants and just sniff around if he wants.  I did get to Spanish music.  Well the music wasn't on probably since he was finishing up by the time I ran by.  Ah it really did feel like springtime!  Don't worry truck washing guy, I will see you again I am sure!  I didn't get in my 6, I stopped at 3.  This training isn't looking the best so far.  But at least I am getting out there right?  And it is pretty early in the training schedule.

Today I headed to the track and did some 200 m sprints..ugh..I am sure my legs are going to feel it tomorrow.  It was a bit cold, but not bad once you got out there and moved (isn't that always the case).   I threw in some jumping jacks, crunches, bicycles and push ups in between some of the sprints.  I figured since no boot camp, might as well do some boot camp moves.

I have some new running shoes coming.  There is just something about new running shoes.  I'm trying a new shoe so I hope that they work..if not I will be sad and have to send them back.  I'm sticking with the Brooks brand though so hopefully the new shoes will be love.  On random non running shoe notes, I headed to Macy's yesterday and found some flats for work for 12.50!  How great is that!  I love when I get to the register and the shoe is less than I expected!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day!

chasing Paul

After school Paul and I decided to go running at the local middle school track.  I had never ran with Paul but I was pretty sure he was faster than I am.  I mean really a turtle is faster than I am..but that is a different post.  So I figured that the track would be a pretty safe place to run. If we run different paces we could run our own and still feel like we are running together.  Well we got to the middle school and the girl's soccer team was using the track.  So we decided to take our run into the neighborhood.  We started the run together but all too quickly it turned into me chasing after Paul.  Yeah I couldn't keep up.  I am going to blame my short legs and Paul's long legs really not fair!   Paul did stop at some of the stop signs to wait for me, not ever sign but some of them.  Turned out to be a pretty ok run.  We are meeting up on Wed. for another run or a chase, whichever you want to think of it.  Tomorrow is the running club followed by some beer.

Run forest!

Two days of running in a row!  That's right I ran again today.  I know you thought that I couldn't run the day after yesterday's long run (1 mile).  But I did.  Met K and Becky at the track and did some laps and some sprints...legs are a bit sore right now. Did over an hour.   Gotta love it.  I don't want to jinx it but I might be out of my funk!!  Yeah!!!

Tomorrow is the running club.  So that is definitely a running day. I  might have convinced my friend Megan to join us for a run tomorrow too.  We will see.  It is a bit of a drive on a school night.  But I told her she might make new friends and there is beer after the run.  Who can turn down a Tuesday night run followed by happy hour anyway??

9 mile run - FAIL!

I have no idea what has been happening with my running (or lack of running).  I have been so tired and my legs have felt like lead.  3 miles has been difficult for me lately, which is not good considering I am going to be running 13.1 in 2 weeks!  Yikes!  I ran with the running club last Tuesday.  I ended up walking the last bit b/c it was so hot out and I was feeling sick from the heat.  Wednesday and Thursday were a no run day.

Friday I decided to get my 9 mile run out of the way.  Boy look how proactive I am being.  So yeah I ran 2 miles and stopped.  I was tired and just couldn't do it.

No problem K and I were going to go to Occoquan regional park and run our 9 miles (or close to it)  yeah 2.5 miles and I gave up.  There are a lot of  hills in that freakin park!  We did end up walking some and the days total was 4.64 miles.  Boy I am just feeling horrible.  I know it is mostly mental (or at least it better be by this time!)  I am really having a hard time getting past the running block.  Not sure if it is because of going back to school or what.  I came home after our "run" and slept for 4 hours...and then I slept that night too.  CFS is that you??  (ok I haven't been tired for 6 months like the link states but still..)  That is a lot of sleeping!

Sunday I got dressed and laced up the shoes and took off!  That's right today is the day for my 9 miler..I mean my 3 miler..failed again!  I was going to try again later in the day at the gym but K was having a cookout so I couldn't go late right??

We are going to attempt (I mean I am going to definitely) run tonight.  I am much better at running in the evening than in the morning.  We are going to run track.  I know boring!  But I figure it is flat (so no excuses about the hills) and there are 4 of us going so I don't have to try to keep up with anyone.  I can just go at my own slow pace.  Fingers crossed that this works.  I am also going to change up my playlist.  Maybe some knew tunes will keep my feet moving.  I did 7 last week so I should be able to do 9 this week...I just would rather lay on the couch.  I have not been in the swing of the whole workout out thing since starting back to work.  I feel like this has be worse this year than in previous years.  Although it could just feel that way b/c normally I do not have a training schedule to follow at the beginning of school...who knows.  I just wish I could feel all into my workouts and running soon...
