15 miles done

Jen and I met up for a 15 mile run on Saturday. I didn't have any real expectations for the run except it will be chilly. Sunday was supposed to be rainy so Saturday was probably the best run day of the weekend.

We headed out from Jen's house towards shirlington. We were just chatting and running. I could tell that this weeks long run was going to be better than last weeks. Around mile six I was feeling pretty good. We were headed into shirlington and I needed a bathroom so we detoured to the library. I love indoor plumbing!

I also love tissues. Not only was I happy to use the facilities but was excited to be able to blow my nose!  I've been battling a head cold for the last couple of days. I actually think the run may have helped loosen my sinuses up. I haven't felt nearly as stuffy since Saturday. Score one for long runs!

So after our mini rest stop we headed back on the trail.  We ran until we hit 7 1/2 miles and turned around. We had one older gentleman ask how far we were going to run and once we told him I think he almost had aheart attack. As we approached the 8 or 9 mile mark we realized that was around the point in the previous week I started yelling out "I hate running!"  I was not to that point yet so this run was looking much better that last weeks. We were maintaining a pretty consistent pace. I wasn't  frozen to death. The sun was out. It was a great run!

The last two miles I had to dig a little deeper, which always happens at the end of my runs. But we finished with smiles on our faces. I drank some chocolate milk at Jen's and then took off for home.

Nothing is better after a long run in the winter than a nice hot bath. Which is just what I did. Then I spent the day finishing a book that I was reading. I love weekends when you can just lay around and relax.

no running for me...

So I haven't ran in  about a week.  I was sick with a head cold last week so all I did was down Nyquil like it was my business.  This weekend I was planning on running...but I didn't.  Instead I sat on the couch and read books and watched tv.  I know that what  a productive weekend.  I had planned on running 5 miles but that didn't turn out to happen.  So tonight I finally ran...only a few miles, but I didn't walk at all and I ran!  Yeah!!  Tomorrow is run club, so I didn't want to over do it tonight.  That and it was starting to get chilly outside.  Outside running really makes such a difference in my running.  I hate running at the gym.

Tonight is Too fat for 15.  I love that show!  I can't wait to see if the kids lost weight since last year.  I am so addicted to fat shows!  Last night was Ruby on Style..love that show too.  Her friends so enable her eating...I couldn't imagine being Ruby's size.

a few miles and I am done...

Today was the perfect day for a run..high 60's...sun was out..I could smell fall in the air.  So, even though I didn't want to lace up the shoes I did.  I went out for a super quick 2 miles.  On mile 2 I realized that the cold I had last weekend must still be lingering in my chest b/c it was really getting hard to breathe..oh well I guess this will be a 2 mile run.  Better than nothing. :)

Today has been dog sitting central.  I have had to run over to my friend Paul's house to let out his dog Holly while they drove clear to NY to go the Headless Horseman haunted something or other, then they are turning around and driving the six hours back.  Yep he is crazy.  Then I am letting out my friend Stacy's American Bull Dog, Porter.  When I go over there I can take my Riley with me and they run around in the backyard.  Riley loves it..so much room.  He doesn't like an 80lb dog running over top of him, but hey everything comes with a price :)  So in between the driving back and forth between everyone's house I went for a short run.  Go me!  Tomorrow I am debating on putting on my running clothes heading to Stacy's to let Porter out and then heading over to the gym (I will have to look up directions to the gym b/c it has been so long since I have been there).  But if it is as nice a day as today I might just come back and run the hood again.  I guess we will see what tomorrow will bring.
